7 common mistakes in business websites that drive customers away

It sounds obvious, but it's common to find business sites where contact info is hidden in a secondary menu, or only available via a form. Anyone who wants a quick answer gives up before finding the button.

2. Site doesn't work well on mobile

More than half of visits today come from mobile. A site that requires zooming, or where the buttons are too small to tap, loses the visitor in seconds — before they even read the content.

3. Lack of information about what the company actually does

Generic text like "innovative solutions for your business" says nothing concrete. The visitor needs to understand in a few seconds what the company sells and for whom.

4. Slow site

Heavy images and weak hosting make loading slow, and most visitors won't wait. It's worth testing your site's speed with free tools like PageSpeed Insights.

5. No SSL certificate (the security padlock)

Sites without SSL show a "Not secure" warning in the browser — that scares off visitors immediately, regardless of content quality.

6. No clear call to action

After reading the content, the visitor needs to know exactly the next step: request a quote, schedule a call, message on WhatsApp. Without a clear action button, they simply leave.

7. Outdated information

An old address, a phone number that no longer exists, a promotion that expired months ago — this gives the impression of an abandoned company, even if it's active and running fine day to day.
